    1. Application Dates

      • Online Application Window: December 05 to December 25, 2025

    2. Official Application Portal

      • Candidates must apply through the official HBTU Ph.D. admission portal:

      • No other mode of application will be accepted.

    3. Eligibility

      • Applicants must meet the minimum academic qualifications for their respective disciplines. Ineligible applications will be rejected without refund.

    4. Application Fee

      • A non-refundable application fee of ₹2500 is to be paid online through the portal.

    5. Exemption from Written Test

      • Candidates with valid qualifications in UGC-NET (Category-1/2/3), CSIR-NET, GATE, CEED, or equivalent national-level tests are exempt from the written test.

      • All candidates must appear for the offline interview, regardless of exemption.

    6. Application Process

      • Applications must be filled and submitted online only.

      • A valid email ID and mobile number are mandatory.

      • Edits are allowed only before final submission of the form.

    7. Academic Fee

      • The annual academic fee for Ph.D. programmes is ₹65,000 for the 2025–26 session.

    8. Document Uploads

      • Required documents include:

        • Passport-sized photo & signature

        • Academic certificates & mark sheets

        • Caste/Category/EWS/PwD certificate (if applicable)

        • Valid national exam scorecard (if claiming exemption/fellowship)

      • Uploads must follow the portal's PDF format and size requirements.

    9. Selection Process

      • Candidates will be shortlisted based on written test (if applicable) or national-level test scores.

      • Shortlisted candidates must attend offline interviews at HBTU Kanpur.

      • Notifications will be sent via email and posted on the university website.

    10. Interview Attendance

    • Interviews will be held offline only at HBTU Kanpur.

    • No online interviews will be allowed under any condition.

    1. Fellowships & Assistantships

    • Only full-time Ph.D. scholars are eligible for institutional fellowships or assistantships, subject to availability.

    • Preference is given to GATE/NET/CSIR-JRF qualified candidates.

    1. Sponsored Candidates

    • Candidates sponsored by industry, government, or R&D organizations may apply.

    • They must follow the same process as regular applicants and meet eligibility criteria.
